Wildlife Acclimate Naturally: The Agamon HaHula Acclimatization Center - the First of its Kind in Israel
(#17835) Every year dozens of wildlife animals get injured in northern Israel, due to a shortage of veterinary hospitals in the region, many of them do not receive timely medical treatment, which endangers their lives and their chances to successfully return to nature. All that changed in 2019 with the opening of the KKL-JNF’s "Acclimatization Center and Wildlife Clinic" in the Agamon HaHula. The clinic accepts injured wildlife providing them with first-response, life-saving treatment; the birds are transferred to acclimatization enclosures for further treatment and follow-up. Three acclimatization enclosures - two designed for birds of prey and one for songbirds - facilitate rehabilitation in a natural setting (outside of the clinic), isolated from humans and inside a protected facility; these enclosures permit monitoring of the birds’ recovery and return to nature under controlled and safe conditions when they are deemed ready for it. This acclimatization method is based on an international method for the treatment of wildlife and avifauna, and this is the first instance it is being applied in Israel. The Agamon HaHula site was chosen because it is situated along one of the most important bird migration routes in the world; millions of birds, comprised of dozens of bird species, migrate along it twice a year between Europe and Africa, plus is it home to various terrestrial wildlife species. Beyond that, there are dozens of other wildlife species in the Hula Valley, throughout the Galilee and in the Golan Heights. The existence of this center and clinic is essential for the preservation of northern Israel’s nature, wildlife and its unique and spectacular ecosystems.

Hula Valley – Feed the Cranes
(#7604) KKL-JNF's unique Hula Lake Park,
in the Upper Galilee, attracts about
100,000 cranes during the yearly
migration seasons. Among them, 35,000
cranes stay over for the winter, enticed
by an abundance of food. Although their
presence is an amazing natural
phenomenon they cause serious damage to
the valley's agricultural fields. In
order to prevent damage to crops and
allow the cranes their annual visits,
KKL-JNIF, together with the local
farmers, initiated the Crane Project, in
which food intended for the cranes is
dispersed, thus deterring them from
eating field crops. Be a Partner

that describe KKL-JNF activities in the
fields of water (flowing water effect),
land (the drainage and reflooding of the
valley) and forestry. Project: NIS 2,250,000 Your Donation: NIS 1,125,000 KKL-JNF in Israel Matching: NIS 1,125,000 |

The Bird Wall
(#12351) The Bird Wall will give the
feeling of the variety and abundance of
birds that arrive at this global birding
site, using experiential, fun tools that

determine dynamics by hand movements—in
which twelve visitors can participate at
a time. An interactive quiz will provide
an enjoyable means of learning about the
local vegetation and wildlife, which the
visitor will encounter outdoors, using
functions in the browser on the wall's
screen A special 18-square-meter glass
wall, screened from behind, will enable
no-touch interaction using sensor
technology that identifies hand
movements. The complex includes a
projector, computer network and
applications. Project: NIS 1,270,000 Your Donation: NIS 635,000 KKL-JNF in Israel Matching: NIS 635,000 |
