Jerusalem Biblical Zoo – KKL-JNF Entrance Plaza

KKL-JNF is developing the large entrance area to the new aquarium complex under construction at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo. This is the first aquarium of its kind in Israel. A KKL-JNF Information Center is also being developed as part of the entrance complex, with focus on KKL-JNF and its significant contribution to Israel’s water economy.

Jerusalem Park – Refa'im Valley – Observation Plaza And Pergola

KKL-JNF plans to develop a scenic lookout in Refa’im Valley Park, part of the Jerusalem Park. Three pergolas, located throughout the park, will create plazas shaded by climbing grapevines. One is planned next to the park entrance and two others are at different spots along the stream bank. From these points, visitors can watch the playgrounds, enjoy the scenery of the restored stream, groves and gardens and view the slopes and neighborhoods of Jerusalem visible from the valley.

Jerusalem Park – Refa’im Valley Park – Main Promenade

KKL-JNF and KKL France have developed a 1,000 meter-long promenade that traverses the length of the Refa'im Valley Park and joins the northern promenade via picturesque bridges. A stroll along the promenade provides visitors with a taste of the park's main attractions as well as a scenic view of the valley and the surrounding Jerusalem neighborhoods. The inclusive design promenade also provides convenient access to park attractions.

Jerusalem Forest —Carob Tree Picnic and Recreation Site

KKL-JNF will restore the heart of the Jerusalem Forest to its former glory with the rehabilitation of a veteran picnic and recreation site, and its legendary carob tree. The site will, once again, serve as an inviting and shaded venue of respite and leisure. Project components, implemented by KKL-JNF's Central Region, include developing a parking area; renovating the terraces, thereby stabilizing the slope, on which two picnic areas will be created, with seating benches beneath an ancient carob tree; campfire circles; plantings; irrigation systems; and the care and maintenance of the existing forest trees and orchards.

Jerusalem Park – Refa’im Valley – Extreme Sports Area for Youth

KKL-JNF and KKL France have supported the development of a site for extreme sports in the Refa'im Valley Park, part of the Jerusalem Park. At this site athletes and vacationers will enjoy climbing and jumping activities not usually found in KKL-JNF forests, which will help attract new segments of the population to the park.

KKL-JNF is planning two picnic areas in Refa’im Valley Park, part of the Jerusalem Park. These two sites will provide visitors to the park with pleasant surroundings and facilities for picnics in nature. In line with KKL-JNF policy one of the picnic areas is wheelchair-accessible, allowing truly everyone to enjoy fun time in nature.

Jerusalem Park – Refa'im Valley – Bicycle Trail

KKL-JNF plans to develop a paved bicycle trail in the Refa’im Valley, which is part of the Jerusalem Park. The trail will run the length of the park and connect with the Jerusalem Park perimeter bicycle trail, the Railway (Mesila) Park in the east and the Aminadav Forest trail in the west, providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience in nature for both cyclists and other nature lovers.

The playground, located in the western section of the valley, provides families, including children, toddlers and people with disabilities, with a safe and pleasant outdoor recreational environment.

KKL-JNF plans to develop a 500 meters-long accessible family promenade that will run along the northern bank of the Refa’im Valley that will provide comfortable passage between the accessible picnic areas and the seating corners in the park. The route provides views of the rehabilitated streambed, groves, play areas and an ancient villa found in the archeological excavations and connects with the main promenade via a picturesque bridge.

Yad Vashem – Landscaping For Forest Fire Prevention

Begin Park - En Kobi Complex - Restoration

En Kobi, one of the largest springs in the Judean Mountains, is the heart of Begin Park, one of the forests surrounding Jerusalem. Begin Park is an important element in KKL-JNF efforts to maintain the delicate ecological balance between built-up and open areas in the Judean Mountains. The park has many attractions: typical Mediterranean woodland trees, orchards, magnificent scenery, hidden forest trails, ancient pools and agricultural archaeological elements. Visitors to the park can feel they have "left it all behind" and enjoy the absolute peace and tranquility isolated nature provides.

Unimog U20 Fire Truck For The Jerusalem Corridor

The prototype Mercedes-Benz Unimog U20 fire truck is ready and waiting to protect the heavily forested Jerusalem corridor, including its wildlife habitats. The specially designed compact unit with tank and equipment includes a sophisticated communication system that can identify the specific location of a fire and readily communicate with fire headquarters. Catching a fire in time is the key to good forest protection.

Mata Forest - Hurvat Hanot Complex Development

Hurvat Hanot is an important historical and archaeological site located in KKL-JNF's Mata Forest. The archaeological remains include a colorful mosaic, winepresses and cistern that attract many visitors. KKL-JNF has already planted trees and prepared the grounds for overnight camping. Excavation work will soon begin at Hurvat Hanot for the purpose of restoration and to create an accessible system of paths between the various attractions, with interpretive signage and an entrance with parking. The site is connected to Caesar's Route, part of the Israel National Trail.
