KKL-JNF House of Excellence in Nof HaGalil
As part of its efforts to enhance community capacity building, KKL-JNF chose
Nof HaGalil as the first city to enjoy and benefit from a KKL-JNF
House of Excellence. It is the first of ten such facilities planned for the cities of the periphery. The design and pedagogical concept of the KKL-JNF
House of Excellence in Nof HaGalil will serve as a prototype for all future KKL-JNF Houses for Excellence.
Less than a year since the official inauguration of the KKL-JNF
House of Excellence in Nof HaGalil, the project had already borne fruit, as evidenced by the results of the city's matriculation exams. In 2018, the
Nof HaGalil Municipality reported that the number of the city's twelfth graders who had passed matriculation exams rose by ten percent, an achievement directly related to the KKL-JNF
House of Excellence in Nof HaGalil.
Most of the two hundred students enrolled at the KKL-JNF
House of Excellence program are from the city's state high schools, Sharett and Alon. In addition to studies that emphasize STEM subjects, they enjoy special activities such as hackathons and enrichment lectures. Instructors skilled in various disciplines are involved in the facility's programs, including members of the Israel Intelligence Corps Unit 8200 Alumni Association, who give courses such as programming language and introduction to robotics. The Menifa ("Leverage for Life") NGO provides highly trained "teachers for life", with emphasis on math, science and English. Enrichment and empowerment activities include lectures by inspiring figures such as Arik Ze'evi, retired Israeli judoka; courses such as Photoshop; and activities including "social house", youth council, youth movements, conferences and activities related to the "world of excellence".
