 KKL-JNF Houses: Exciting news!

The first buds of a new project are about to appear

The KKL-JNF House in Nazareth Illit will be inaugurated on December 17, 2017

"Close your eyes and imagine a magnificent, three-storey building with an elevator and a well- kept garden. On the first floor, a large hall furnished with sophisticated computer stations, like a Google workplace, staffed by graduates of the 8200 Israeli Intelligence Corps unit, teaching the youngsters of Nazareth Illit cyberspace technology and entrepreneurship in an attractive space with designer puff chairs and a boutique   cafeteria. . . ." from the Facebook of Mayor of Nazareth Illit Ronen Plot (August 2, 2017). Full article.

Last month we brought you news about the unique KKL-JNF Houses project. Marketing brochures for the project in English, French, German and Spanish have been printed and are ready for distribution. They can also be found on the Partnership site under Final Productions.

At this stage, we are looking for an appropriate, original and catchy name for the houses project. On June 6, 2017, KKL-JNF invited Israel's youth, via an animated video on YouTube, to enter a prize winning competition for the best name. Once we have the winning name we'll forward it to you and ask you for your suggestions for an attractive name in other languages.

KKL France has already committed itself to partner in this worthy project.

There's room for everyone!

KKL-JNF with the People of the Negev

The Negev 2017 brochure, presenting KKL-JNF projects and activities in the Negev, is in the printing stage. The brochure has been translated from English into French, German, Hebrew and Spanish.

KKL-JNF is a leading partner in the sustainable development of the Negev, helping to strengthen its communities and increase its sources of income, attracting young families from the central region to make their homes in the southern region and ensure a flourishing future.

The continued development of the Negev is the realization of KKL-JNF's vision. As stated by Daniel Atar, KKL-JNF World Chairman: "KKL-JNF will help the state of Israel move a million new residents to the Negev".

Be a partner in improving the quality of Israel's air!

In last month's "Hot Issues" we brought you news about the environmental projects that KKL-JNF is developing in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection — with focus on the periphery.

The first project, Electric Buses, was inaugurated in Haifa on August 7, 2017. In honor of the event, Daniel Atar, KKL-JNF World Chairman, posted the following on his Facebook [Translation]:

Today we inaugurated the KKL-JNF and Egged Electric Buses project in Kiryat Haim [Haifa suburb]. The new bus terminal will serve the first 25 electric buses introduced to the public transportation system. The ministry of environmental protection and the ministry of transport are also partners in this project. For me, sustainability is not just a slogan. It is a holistic perception of life in this country; of the complex systems that surround us and enable us to thrive. We plant trees to protect land and air, but we must, even gradually, change what we're accustomed to and move on to using cleaner energy, for ourselves and future generations. From this perspective, we, together with Egged, initiated the project inaugurated today. KKL-JNF is committed to continuing the promotion of such projects, and I am sure that the noxious exhaust and noise from buses will become a memory, and we will all enjoy a cleaner, safer and quieter environment.

There are 3 projects for donation under the topic "Clean Car Revolution":

Electric Buses (#14745). Required donation: NIS 330,000 per bus.

Electric Car Ride-Share (#14747). Required donation: NIS 50,000.

Green Taxi (#14744). Required donation: NIS 23,500 per taxi.

**Donation amount is determined according to the relative participation of KKL-JNF in each item.

Additional environmental projects will be promoted during the year. These include Greening Neighborhoods: Creating green around public buildings, landscaping open public spaces in cities, installing solar panels on roofs and improving the aesthetic environs of houses; Green Energy: The sustainable renovation of public buildings; using cost-effective LED lighting and solar energy; and Restoring Stream and Riverbanks, making them accessible to the public.

Information regarding project donations will be sent to you as soon as possible. Donors will receive appropriate recognition.

Click here for information about these projects on the official KKL-JNF website.

Brazil Maccabiah 2017 Delegates Visit KKL-JNF sites

What's more important than the next generation? What can compare to seeing Israel firsthand?

KKL Brazil created a framework for experiential learning in Israel for some 220 young Brazilians who participated in the 20th Maccabiah Games. KKL Brazil shared their initiative with us to raise awareness about KKL-JNF and its projects among their youth.

The Maccabiah group from Brazil, led by Mr. Marcelo Schapochnik, CEO KKL Brazil, toured the country, with focus on nature sites and KKL-JNF's activities over the past 115 years in protecting open spaces and conserving natural resources.

The participants also received colorful and informative KKL Brazil calendars (1-2) with Hebrew and Gregorian dates and holidays, ecological events and information about KKL-JNF's activities, all in one.

Marcelo explained that although the youngsters see films and photos produced or distributed by KKL Brazil, nothing compares to the experience of being in Israel. The tour exemplified KKL Brazil's efforts in nurturing a future generation that will be informed and involved.

Taking Advantage of an Opportunity

The KKL Brazil story is a good example of how an opportunity was used to expose youngsters to KKL-JNF and its activities while they were in Israel for another event.

Thank you KKL Brazil for the initiative and sharing your story with us!
