Jerusalem – Natural History Museum – Landscaping

The Jerusalem Natural History Museum is one of the more unique museums in Jerusalem. It focuses on nature and the environment, and has a number of permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as a botanical garden and petting zoo that make a visit to the site a special experience. In its current state it is not possible to gather and participate in outdoor activities. KKL-JNF has undertaken to landscape the museum yard to create shaded, pleasant and safe sites for outdoor activities and cultural, recreational and community events. This will allow the museum to expand its activities and visitors to enjoy a new range of educational experiential activities. (No.15145)

 
 

Or Yehuda – KKL-JNF Garden (The Yarden Garden)

KKL-JNF, in cooperation with the Municipality of Or Yehuda, is planning the development of a new playground in the framework of a KKL-JNF Garden. The public space will be open to all the city's residents and will feature a large lawn, shading structures and modern playground equipment. The garden will be a focal point of free time for children and its paved trails will provide easy access for pedestrians and cyclists. The garden will greatly enhance the surrounding neighborhood and serve as a quality venue for quality time. (No.15129)


 

Megiddo - Bicycle Trails Connecting to the "Square Trail"

KKL-JNF, in cooperation with The Megiddo Regional Council, is planning three new bicycle trails in the Ramat Menashe (Megiddo) Biosphere Reserve for the benefit its residents and cyclists from all over Israel who come to enjoy the unique nature and scenery of the area. The trails will connect the communities of Eliyakim, En HaEmek, Ramat Menashe and Dalia to the “Square Trail” – a circular 5-kilometer bicycle trail leading to the regional council compound, Yad LaBanim and the Megiddo Regional Secondary School. The trails will be adapted to the topography and will be lit by solar powered lights in the dark, thus providing a major solution to the issue of moving between the various communities and public institutions. Giv’at Ada – Elot Ada Community Forest – Forest Entrance

KKL-JNF is helping the inhabitants of Giv’at Ada develop the nearby Elot Ada Forest to make it a community forest focusing on educational, social and community activities. KKL-JNF strives to connect local inhabitants to their surrounding forest and nature, by encouraging them to participate in preserving one of the last remaining oak forests in Central Israel. The forest is used for diverse activities with local schoolchildren but is in need of well-defined safe sites for outdoor activities and education, which will allow the forest to receive many more visitors. KKL-JNF has therefore taken on itself to develop two entrance areas that will be ideal venues for activities, gatherings and leisure. (No.14688)

 
 

Ein Rafa – Coexistence Single Track

The KKL-JNF Ein Rafa Single Track Cycling Trail starts in the Arab village of Ein Rafa in the Jerusalem hills and encircles Nahal Kisalon. It is the first trail of its kind to have been built in partnership with residents of an Arab community, (in this case the youth of the community, who were physically involved in its construction), and as such it constitutes an excellent example of successful cooperation that contributes both to the local community and the environment. The single is open to all cycling enthusiasts from Jerusalem and its environs, helping bring people together as they take part in a healthy and eco-friendly sport and providing an enjoyable riding experience through various landscapes. Upper Yokne’am – Forest Promenade

KKL-JNF developed a new promenade in Upper Yokne’am, southeast of Mt. Carmel, for the benefit of the inhabitants of the city and other communities in the region. The 1.7-km Forest Promenade is located in the Ramat Yokne’am quarter and borders on the southern Carmel forests. The promenade is used by walkers, runners and cyclists and improves their safety by safeguarding them from the road. In addition, the promenade serves as a buffer area between the residential areas and the nearby forest, which can help prevent spread of wildfires into adjacent residential quarters. (No.8163)

 
 

Nes Harim Field and Forest Education Center – Study Center

KKL-JNF Field and Forest Education Center (FFEC) in the Nes Harim Forest (near Bet Shemesh) offers hikes, outings, educational and experiential activities for children, youth and families from all over Israel. The activities focus on KKL-JNF values – nature, environment, community and heritage. KKL-JNF developed a “Study Center” at the FFEC ideal for workshops, conferences and a variety of activities for large groups. The study center has classrooms of various sizes and a well-equipped computer classroom for conducting activities, classes and lectures. (No.9166)


 

Holon – Urban Promenade

KKL-JNF developed a new promenade in the city of Holon, as part of its efforts to develop venues for sports and recreation in cities throughout Israel, to encourage healthy lifestyles. The 1.4-km promenade is located in the southern part of the city, where Holon meets Rishon Le-Tsiyon, and connects the Tzadok Park and the Yovel Grove. The promenade is used for walking, running and cycling during all hours of the day; it is illuminated to allow it to be used at night as well. KKL-JNF also landscaped the promenade, thus improving it and the adjoining areas of the two cities. (No.9128)


 

Shoham Park – Hurvat Tinshemet – Development and Multi-Sensory Accessibility

Developing Hurvat Tinshemet and making it accessible to people with disabilities is a unique project that will combine tourist development, multi-sensory accessibility and community activity. The students at the nearby school in Shoham received archaeological training and actively participated in uncovering the unique mosaic found at the site. KKL-JNF created clearings for activities, seating corners and paths. Accessibility was a central theme in developing the project, to allow people with physical and sensory disabilities to enjoy the site, by taking advantage of the latest technological developments. Unimog U20 Fire Truck For The Jerusalem Corridor

The prototype Mercedes-Benz Unimog U20 fire truck is ready and waiting to protect the heavily forested Jerusalem corridor, including its wildlife habitats. The specially designed compact unit with tank and equipment includes a sophisticated communication system that can identify the specific location of a fire and readily communicate with fire headquarters. Catching a fire in time is the key to good forest protection. (No.9202)


 

Nes Harim - Field and Forest Education Center – Forest Cabins

KKL-JNF Field and Forest Education Center (FFEC) in the Nes Harim Forest (near Bet Shemesh) offers hikes, outings, educational and experiential activities for children, youth and families from all over Israel. The activities focus on KKL-JNF values – nature, environment, community and heritage. The FFEC also provides accommodation, therefore KKL-JNF built 48 wood cabins for the benefit of visitors that may be used throughout the year, including weekends, holidays and vacations. The cabins are equipped with all the necessities and can accommodate up to six people, providing a unique natural lodging experience. (No.6833)
