Arava – Repairing Flash Flood Damage 2018 Subject: Community, Environment June 2018 Status Update: In Progress The Arava was greatly damaged by severe weather of heavy rains and flash floods for three consecutive days at the end of April 2018. Arava Streambeds overflowed, blocking roads and entrances to communities and all the crossings were blocked and damaged. KKL-JNF mobilized the day after the deluge to repair damaged infrastructure and it continues to carry out necessary work in cooperation with the Arava Drainage and Streams Authority. (No.15800) |

KKL-JNF's work in preparing agricultural land in the Arava constitutes a basis for the region's infrastructure, enabling it to absorb new families and strengthen its agriculture sector. Arad-Masada - The Israel Bike Trail Subject: Community, Tourism June 2018 Status Update: Detailed Planning The Arad Municipality envisions the city as a national cycling center in the fields of tourism, education, community and infrastructure. As part of the process of developing bicycle paths throughout the town and its surroundings there are plans to develop a bicycle trail that will be a major section of the Israel Bike Trail (a national trail planned to cross the country from north to south, from Mt. Hermon to Eilat). The proposed trail will be about 25 kilometers long and connect Arad to the World Heritage site of Masada. The trail will provide a desert cycling experience that will combine nature, scenery, history and archaeology. (No.15124) |

Be'er Sheva - Masada Road Bicycle Path Subject: Community, Tourism June 2018 Status Update: Detailed Planning Be’er Sheva has been developing rapidly in recent years on its way to becoming a sustainable city that lives sustainably. As part of this process KKL-JNF and the Be’er Sheva Municipality are promoting a new energy saving project - a 2-kilometer paved bicycle path on Masada Road. Subject: Tourism, Community June 2018 Status Update: Detailed Planning The planned bicycle path in Tel Sheva, a Bedouin Negev community, will run along Nahal Gez, which runs through the center of the community and whose western end connects with Nahal Be’er Sheva. The path will connect parts of the community and provide access to Tel Sheva public buildings as well as to the city of Be’er Sheva. The path will also link open areas and tourist attractions bordering on the town, such as the Tel Sheva National Park, a renowned archeological site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route is suited for cycling and walking in Tel Sheva and will be used by the residents for fitness activity and recreation as well as encouraging them to use environmentally friendly transportation.(No.15122) |

Kibbutz Nahal Oz – Land Preparation for Housing Construction Subject: Community June 2018 Status Update: Detailed Planning As part of KKL-JNF’s vision of getting more Israelis to move from the center to the Negev region, it plans to prepare the ground for a construction project at Kibbutz Nahal Oz. Meitar – Developing a Loop Single-Track Subject: Tourism, Community June 2018 Status Update: In Progress As part of a master plan for the development of the Meitar Forest and to serve the needs of hundreds of cyclists, KKL-JNF is building a 17 km single-track bike trail around Meitar. The single-track includes many off-shoot trails, enabling residents immediate access to their neighborhoods. It also connects to two regional cycling trails and passes close to the Israel National Bicycle Trail. The new trail will provide an attractive, fun and varied ride in the KKL-JNF southern region forests.(No.14868) |

New Fire Trucks for KKL-JNF Firefighters Subject: Environment, Community June 2018 Status Update: Detailed Planning KKL-JNF plans to purchase four new model fire trucks to extinguishing the wildfires that have been erupting daily in KKL-JNF forests in the western Negev. The fires are caused by what has been dubbed as "kite terror", kites with incendiary devices flown from the Gaza border into Israel, igniting vast areas of agricultural fields and nature reserves in addition to KKL-JNF forests.(No.14454) |

Subject: Tourism, Community June 2018 Status Update: In Progress KKL-JNF, in cooperation with the Ofakim Municipality, is creating a sports space in the southern district Ofakim Park, which connects the veteran part of the city with the recently constructed neighborhood of New Ofakim. The park serves as the city's main urban park with picnic grounds, a system of roads, walking and cycling trails, the Patish Fortress from the Ottoman period and a cave from the Byzantine period. The sports space, located on the central lawn at the entrance to "Heart of the Park", is divided into three main clusters surrounded and connected by walking and jogging trails. (No.12484) |

Plugot Forest – Bridge Restoration and Picnic & Recreation Site Subject: Tourism June 2018 Status Update: Completed KKL-JNF is implementing projects for the preservation and development of nature and heritage sites in the Plugot Forest for the benefit of hikers and other visitors. Work involves the preservation of a bridge from the Ottoman period, including treatment and preservation of the Plugot stream and its banks and architectural and structural preservation of the historical bridge.
