1938. Low-tech. Pumping water to irrigate the fields of Kibbutz Hamadia. (Avraham Malavsky)

2014. High-tech. An experimental program to purify urban runoff in Kfar Saba. The mechanism, called a biofilter, purifies water by biological means. After purification the water can be used to enrich groundwater. The technology was developed at Monash University in Australia together with Israeli scientists. (Esti Goldwasser)

Between the hills of Nir Am
