An ounce of prevention is worth a
pound of cure – building “walls” against fires
(summery from the press, May-June 2011)
The committee of experts convened
following the disastrous Carmel wildfire this last December has
formulated recommendations to mitigate the consequences of future

settlements – strips of land 25 meters across cleared of trees – that
will hopefully stop the progress of fires and avoid damage to
surrounding communities. Various methods will be used, including
controlled grazing.
